Welcome to McAlester Public Schools - home of the Buffaloes!  We are proud of who we are and what we do.  Our mission is to join the home and the community in developing educated and responsible citizens.  We cordially invite you to visit our schools and discover exactly what students, teachers and administrators are doing to meet students' needs. 

 Our schools are organized as follows: 

• Three Early Childhood Centers serving Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten, with 3 Year Old classes through Kibois Head Start at two sites:  Jefferson ECC, Washington ECC & William Gay ECC
• Three Elementary Schools serving grades 1 through 4: Edmond Doyle, Emerson & Will Rogers
• One Intermediate Center serving grades 5 and 6: Parker Intermediate Center
• One Middle School serving grades 7 and 8: Puterbaugh Middle School
• One High School serving grades 9 through 12, with evening alternative education programming: McAlester High School

 The students in our schools have many different abilities and talents that they share with us everyday. In acknowledgement of their gifts and varying interests, a wide range of programs and activities is offered that goes beyond basic academic instruction.  Examples are an outstanding full-day early childhood program with after-school care; 21st Century technology infused elementary classrooms and media centers; opportunities at all levels for rich fine arts experiences and outdoor learning; gifted, honors, and advanced placement curricula; highly acclaimed and award winning band and orchestra programs; Career-Tech programming; and a full range of athletics, boasting the 2010 Class 5A Girls' Basketball State Champions!
