Graduation

"Engaging Minds, Inspiring Hearts, Pursuing Excellence"

Our Mission

The mission of McAlester Public Schools is to join the home and community in developing educated and responsible citizens.

Grounded in Tradition,
Launching Tomorrow's Leaders

Telescope

McAlester Public Schools is one of the largest districts in Southeast Oklahoma.  While we are grounded in tradition, we are launching leaders for tomorrow's challenges and setting the pace for excellence in the classroom and beyond. Our students receive the benefits of a large district and  are encouraged to dream big in the personalized atmosphere of a smaller community.

Outdoor LearningCulture

Drawing from the rich and diverse cultural heritage and environment of McAlester, the district promotes and affirms the uniqueness of each individual student by offering a wide array of academics, co-curricular, and extra-curricular activities.  Opportunities are provided for students to explore their interests and develop their talents, while deepening their appreciation of their own and differing heritages.

Students are encouraged to explore, experiment, and evaluate in classrooms where there is a climate of stability and security.  A climate of acceptance, encouragement in thinking, and reward for effort moves students closer to feeling they are valued at school.

We believe that a feeling of belonging is the baseline on which learning is built.  Therefore, each school endeavors to create a culture of inclusion that values individuals and their contributions to the group.  Mutual respect and teamwork are building blocks for development of productive and responsible citizens, beginning with a sense of school pride.
