Parent & Family Involvement |
Parents
We are so glad you are here. At MPS we understand the integral role you play as parents in your child's education. When parents support their schools, they reinforce a number of valuable messages for their children, such as responsibility, accountability, respect for rules and respect for others, especially those in authority. School is actually an extension of the family, where the sole purpose is to prepare young people to take their place in our global socity. As educators, our goal will always be to work together with parents to create an educational environment which enables every child to grow successfully into adulthood. We welcome your involvement which provides opportunities to: - get acquainted with educators who have the responsibility of teaching your children;
learn how your schools operate and are funded; learn what is being taught to your children; lend a helping hand with student activities supervision; and give extra attention to students.

Together We Succeed
Research indicates that when parents and teachers team up to present a united front their efforts are rewarded with children who enjoy a higher success rate. By parents supporting their child's school, they demonstrate that their school, and what their child does there, is important. As parents and teachers work as partners, the expectations for students increase and self-confidence soars as children gain skills that will serve them a lifetime.
In addition to parents being involved, research tells us that one contributor to the success and well-being of children is the presence in their lives of other caring adults. We welcome the involvement of grandparents and senior citizens. |
Ways To be Involved At your Child's School The more you know about your child's education and the more involved you are, the better your child's opportunities for success become. Some of the ways you can be directly involved in your child's school are: reading with students, small group activities, special class projects, test monitoring, parent teacher organizations, booster clubs, tutoring, career/special interest resource speaker, job shadowing, sponsor/chaperone activities or field trips, and classroom, media center, computer lab or clerical assistance. If you are willing to share your energy and talents, we will have a place for you!
