I grew up in and attended Blanchard Public Schools where I graduated in 1977. Upon graduation I attended the University of Oklahoma, then transferred to Seminole State College. I then obtained my Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant.

My wife Nancy and I were married in 1982 and recently celebrated our 37th wedding anniversary. We have one-son, Erik and triplet daughters: Holly, Hannah, and Hilary. Nancy and I also have 6 grandchildren: Hayden, Ryleigh, Eli, Kyler, Taylen, and Chisum.
Early in my career, I taught and coached for 3 years at Blanchard Public Schools. In 1985-1986 I became the head baseball coach for McAlester Public Schools where I coached and taught for 20 years. During my 37 years in public education, 15 of those years have been in administration. I have served as the Alternative Education Director, Puterbaugh Middle School Principal, and McAlester High School Principal.
I led the Buffaloes to 15 regional baseball championships, four state runner up titles, and four state championship titles in 1988, 1996, 1998, and 2000. My record as head coach in 19 seasons was 512-247.
In 1988 I was named the Daily Oklahoma Coach of the Year, in 1996 I was named the Oklahoma All-State Baseball Head Coach of the Year and in 2003 I was inducted in the Oklahoma Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame.
In 2012, I became the Superintendent of Middleberg Public Schools and served in that capacity for 4 years until my return to McAlester in 2016 to serve McAlester Public Schools again, this time in the role as Superintendent. In 2017 I was inducted in the Blanchard High School Hall of Fame. My family and I attend church at North Town Church of Christ in McAlester, where we are active members and volunteers. I am also a member of the McAlester Lions Club.
