Alternative Education is an initiave of McAlester Public Schools established to serve at risk students whose needs are not met in a traditional school setting.
We offer 2 opportunities for students outside of the traditional school setting:
Our Virtual Program, refers to instruction in a learning environment where teacher and student are separated by time or space, or both, and the teacher provides course content through course management applications, multimedia resources and the Internet. Students are required to only be onsite 1 day a week, for instruction, and any additional assistance that is needed.
Key Academy, offers our virtual course management application, but students are onsite daily with instructors available to assist in day to day classes. Class sizes are limited to 15 per room and student can work at their own pace to an extent. There are a limited number of slots available for this academic pathway currently.
