Congratulations to our 2024 McAlester Public Schools Teacher of the Year Mr. Kelly Blevins from Hughes Middle School!

This is Mr. Blevins’ 11th year teaching. He has taught 7th and 8th-grade math, Pre-Algebra, and Algebra I. Kelly feels very honored that he has been nominated by his peers as a teacher of the year candidate three times. Kelly believes in the value of being educated. One of his primary motivations for teaching is his desire for students to know the near-endless possibilities that await them when they are properly prepared.

Kelly said, “Students can go on to do anything they want in this world and be successful.” When asked what brings him the most joy in his work, Kelly responded, “When I see a student come in with low math self-esteem and as the year progresses, they start to gain confidence, and they begin to believe in themselves that they can do hard math, that's what it's all about for me.”
