McAlester Public Schools is excited to announce that McAlester High School Seniors Grace Bell and Layne DeTello have been nominated for the 2024 Discovery Awards for their outstanding performances as Mrs. Potts and Beast from the recent MHS Fine Arts production of Beauty and the Beast. 

The Discovery Awards is an official Regional Awards Program of The National High School Musical Theatre Awards (R) or The Jimmy Awards (R) which was established in 2009 by Pittsburgh CLO and Nederlander Alliances.

The Discovery Awards is a special regional program that highlights and awards excellence in eastern Oklahoma high school musical theater. Sixty-two students from high schools across the region will perform before a panel of adjudicators who will select the top male and female in eastern Oklahoma. Produced in partnership by Celebrity Attractions and the Tulsa PAC the Discovery Awards will be held on Friday, May 31, 2024 in Tulsa. You can purchase tickets online: https://tulsapac.com/
