Ashley Gragg, Named NJOMA Region 3A Teacher of the Year

McAlester Public Schools is proud to announce that Mrs. Ashley Gragg, Director of Indian Education, has been named the National Johnson-O’Malley Association (NJOMA) Teacher of the Year for Region 3A. This prestigious honor recognizes Mrs. Gragg’s outstanding commitment to Native American education, advocacy, and cultural preservation.
The award will be formally presented during the 2025 NJOMA Conference in Denver, Colorado at the Awards Banquet on Monday, November 10, 2025.
"Mrs. Gragg’s passion, leadership, and dedication to our Native American students and families have made a lasting impact on our district and community," said McAlester Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Robert Steeber. "This recognition is well deserved, and we are incredibly proud to have her as part of the MPS family."
As Indian Education Director, Mrs. Gragg has led numerous culturally enriching initiatives, strengthened community partnerships, and consistently advocated for student success through the Johnson-O’Malley program. Her work has not only enhanced educational opportunities for Native American students but also ensured the preservation and celebration of tribal heritage across the district.
